Listen to the opening of Chapter 1 of the forthcoming audiobook edition of The Tremble of Love: A Novel of the Baal Shem Tov. Written by Ani Tuzman. Narrated by Stefan Rudnicki. Music by Klezamir. Audio engineering by Peter Acker @ Armadillo Studios.
Oh Ani, yours is the voice I want to hear. This is not to say I would not listen to your creation, but
Stefan’s voice is too weighty for me at this time. I want your woman’s voice, your mother’s voice, you who nurtured this story in the womb of your heart & brought it forth with your music & tonalities. I miss your life-giving way of sharing what you gave birth to.
Beautiful Ani. Your voice or his, the audio is just what I needed to entice me further. I am one of those people who love spoken stories. The joy of being able to move, walk, wander about or sit on a rock while someone tells me a story is one of life’s delights. (Truth be told, I love it even more than reading .)
Your book lends itself beautifully to this form. I can hear your voice behind the voice, which is lucky for me in knowing you. I am impatient to hear the book. Tell me when it is ready?
Hello Sue! Speaking of hearing someone’s voice. How nice to hear from you! I hope all is well!
I,too, have come to love audiobooks and the delights of being read to, especially by a skillful narrator. Stefan is a genius and inhabits the book and its characters with great heart and depth.
I will be sure to let you know when the audiobook is ready. Any day now! Just waiting for the nod from Audible’s “Quality Assurance” department.
Another birth!
Write me privately and let me know how you are. Please.
Love,
Ani
I am listening samples , now ,Ani!!
Enjoy, Elvan!
Dear Ani
I loved listening to Stefan read the book. For some reason, hearing the opening section made me understand even more fully how you inhabit the body of your hero. As I listened, I felt his feelings as if I were in there with him. Amazing experience. And I come away with an even deeper appreciation for the brilliance of your writing. Blessings. Diana
Thank you for listening and receiving so deeply, Diana.
I inhabited my hero who inhabits me. Quite an honor no matter how one looks at it!
It will be wonderful to hear your experience as you listen to more
Of the audiobook.
It is very fulfilling to a writer (to this writer, I should say) to have one’s work so deeply received.
Blessings on your writing and life!
Ani
That is really beautiful, Ani, and I agree that Stefan is a wonderful choice; although you too have a very soothing voice. His voice seems to convey the beauty of the words. I lived in Stratford-upon-Avon for over thirty years; so I’ve been steeped in Shakespeare. Wonderful!
Thank you, Margaret for taking time to “taste,” the audiobook, for commenting here, and for reflecting your enjoyment of Stefan’s performance and your appreciation of my voice.
I believe that you are going to enjoy the audiobook very much. Also, stay tuned to my Harvesting Love blog and the emails I send to the “inner circle of readers,” that will feature me reading poems, posts and contemplative passages.
With gratitude for your interest,
Ani
Ani,
Great choice, even though I would have loved to hear your voice read it.
Thanks for listening, Alisande! And thank you for the compliment. 🙂
I will be reading from the novel at events and would love to read to you then! After much inner and outer exploration, I decided that Stefan was the one to carry the book in its entirety. (It was quite a process, including letting go of being the one to read it. I might write more about the process in the future.)
Thank you again–for taking the time to listen and, before that, for having read and savored The Tremble of Love: A Novel of the Baal Shem Tov!
